Atalanta is seeking an experienced and highly motivated molecular and cellular biologist to join our In Vitro Biology team and lead the siRNA screening team. As screening lab head, this person will be responsible for the development and expansion of our screening capabilities to evaluate siRNA efficacy in mammalian cells and will oversee the implementation of automation and data capture technologies to support preclinical drug development for multiple therapeutic targets.
Candidate must be familiar with cell-based assay development, microplate-based cell culture and automated liquid handling. A background in neurobiology and/or familiarity with neuronal cell assay development is a plus.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Implementing and optimizing screening workflow to accelerate siRNA compound evaluation in cell-based assays
- Developing and standardizing assays for hit evaluation, including gene expression and protein analysis
- Assessing biological activity of siRNA therapeutic candidates using skills in molecular cloning, stable cell line generation, cell culture and functional assay development
- Application of data analysis tools to assess biological activity, assay performance and statistical analysis of experimental data
- Managing research associates in the performance of screening assays in a matrixed organization
- Interfacing with multiple biology and chemistry project teams to adapt assays to high throughput formats, stage and prioritize screens, and iteratively improve processes
- Communicating experimental plans, timelines and results through active interpersonal interactions as well as slide presentations and reports
Applicants should have
- Technical expertise in cell-based bioassays, high-throughput screening automation, mRNA expression analysis and ELISA/multiplex assays
- A strong background in assay development, optimization and validation
- Expertise in molecular biology, including creation of stable cell lines for target evaluation
- A demonstrated ability to work with large experimental data sets including statistical analyses
- Experience in neurodegenerative and neurological disease research
